New Apple HomePod is coming in 2023, featuring an S8 chip

Introduction

A new Apple HomePod is coming, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. In his latest edition of the Power On newsletter, the reporter says Apple is preparing a New Apple HomePod smart speaker for next year, which will look and sound like the original version discontinued a year ago.

The New Apple HomePod speaker will come as much of a surprise.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple plans to release a “deluge” of new products this fall and in the first half of 2023. And while many of the devices the company is reportedly working on won’t come won’t come as much of a surprise, one is interesting.
In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman reports Apple is preparing a new HomePod speaker that will look and sound similar to the original 2018 model. As you may recall, the company stopped the HomePod in 2021 without announcing a direct replacement. However, your only option now is the$99 HomePod mini, If you want a smart speaker with Siri built-in.

New HomePod rumors.

According to Kuo, Apple is targeting Q4 of this year or Q1 of next time for launching the next Apple HomePod model. Which will be a larger model than the HomePod mini, but one with features that help bring the cost down from $300 like its predecessor.
The other alternative, although hopefully less likely, is a new version of the New Apple HomePod mini. Apple has released new colors of the New Apple HomePod mini, but an alternate generation doesn’t seem necessary yet.

Same HomePod design

That’s only speculation, as Kuo only described the New Apple HomePod by saying, “there may not be much innovation in hardware design.” Of course, that could be good, considering the tackle design isn’t a significant complaint unless you want Bluetooth or line-out functionality.

Kuo went on to say that while he views smart speakers as “really one of the essential elements of the home ecosystem,” he doesn’t allow
Apple has realized how to be successful in the smart speaker domain.

The new model will come with additional processing power.

According to Gurman, the New Apple HomePod will feature Apple’s forthcoming S8 chip and a streamlined display on the top of the speaker that may include multitouch functionality. The HomePod mini features an S5 chip for the environment, suggesting the new model will come with additional processing power.

Apple also plans the HomePod price.

Presumably, Apple also plans to price the speaker more competitively than it did the 2018 model. At $349, the HomePod was one of the more precious smart speakers you could buy at the time, and in no way felt like it lived up to that price. The price is still unclear, but Apple will not charge further than $300, as it did with the original model.

Outside an updated HomePod, Gurman says Apple is working on at least four new Mac models and an AirPods Pro refresh, among other devices. On Bloomberg, you can find the full details of Apple’s near-term product roadmap, “one of the most ambitious” in the company’s recent history.

The original HomePod offered an extraordinary audio experience.

In a previous report, Gurman said Apple was working on a mix of an Apple television with HomePod, which could be similar to an Amazon Echo Show – which doesn’t feel like the case then.
Although the HomePod mini is an excellent product that users keep buying and pairing with other speakers, the original HomePod offered a more extraordinary audio experience that numerous people are missing now.

Smart speaker marketSmart speaker market largely because Apple insists on premium audio performance, which comes with higher price tags, and that’s before you consider Apple’s edges to make a product worth its time. Amazon Echo and Google Nest products rival the HomePod mini in price( if not features), but we don’t anticipate Apple to release a HomePod version below the HomePod mini threshold.

Since the first HomePod introduction, Sonos has also beefed up its connected speaker products with voice control features. Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant first brought voice controllers for music and intelligent features to Sonos. Now, the company has developed its intelligent in-house assistant for voice-controlling music.

Last but not least, Mark Gurman gives some tidbits about the new Apple TV, which features the A14 chip.
