Samsung Electronics unveiled the ‘3rd generation AI 8K processor’ utilizing its own system-on-chip (SoC) technology. This chipset implements AI technologies such as 512 neural networks, 8K AI Upscaling Pro, AI Motion Enhancement Pro, and Active Voice Pro.

The ‘Alpha 11 processor’ applied to ‘LG OLED EVO’, the top lineup, has improved graphics performance by 70% and processing speed by 30% based on AI performance that is four times more powerful than the existing Alpha 9. Through this, the picture quality is upscaled by analyzing every pixel within the frame in detail. In particular, it is the first LG TV to upscale online video platform (OTT) content such as Netflix and Apple TV+ in real time. Two sound channels have also been added compared to the existing Alpha 9 to implement spatial sound.
Starting with Korea, LG Electronics plans to launch new 2024 TV models in 150 countries, including North America at the end of this month and Europe in early April.
Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics plan to respond to the demand in the premium TV market by leveraging AI and large screens. In particular, demand is expected this year due to large-scale sporting events such as the Paris Olympics.
